§ Mr. Chris PattenI had the pleasure of meeting the new president of the World Bank on 20 October, when he made his first official visit to London. Mr. Conable also called on my right hon. Friends the Prime Minister and the Chancellor of the Exchequer. Among the subjects discussed were the possibility of a new general capital increase for the bank, the current negotiations about the eighth replenishment of the International Development Association, and the environmental aspects of the bank's development projects and programmes.
