HC Deb 03 November 1986 vol 103 c334W
10. Mr. Flannery

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he has discussed with the chairman of British Railways the preservation of the Settle-Carlisle railway line; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. David Mitchell

It would be premature to discuss the detailed case for retaining this line in advance of receiving either BR's financial case or the TUCC's report. I expect to receive both documents before the end of the year.
