HC Deb 03 November 1986 vol 103 c341W
45. Mr. Tony Banks

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what discussion he has had with London Regional Transport in respect of combating crime on the London underground.

Mr. David Mitchell

As the hon. Member will know, a study to investigate crime on the London underground, including officials from my Department and London Regional Transport, was launched at the Prime Minister's seminar on crime prevention in January of this year. Its report has now been completed and is to be published next month. As a result of this work we are making available to London Regional Transport £15 million over the next three years to invest in measures which the report identifies. LRT is now preparing a detailed programme of implementation which I shall be discussing with the chairman.
