asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the total cost of the rehabilitation works to the cardiac wing at Great Ormond street hospital for sick children, including fees and equipment.

The total cost of the rehabilitation works to the cardiac wing at Great Ormond street hospital for sick children, including fees and equipment, is estimated to be £18,520,000. This sum does not include fees of council, solicitors and expert witnesses in connection with current litigation.

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what has been the cause of the delay in the estimated completion date of the rehabiliation works at Great Ormond street hospital.

Delay to the estimated completion date of the rehabilitation work to the cardiac wing at Great Ormond street hospital has arisen from the unforeseeable degree of difficulty in carrying out a range of complex repair works. We anticipate completion by 28 February 1987.
