HC Deb 03 November 1986 vol 103 c317W
Mr. John Fraser

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what representations he has received about the level of crime in Brixton; and if he will ask the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis to revise upwards his allocation of police in Brixton.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

This year my right hon. Friend has received letters from the community police consultative group for Lambeth and from four members of the public about crime in Brixton.

The deployment of manpower is a matter for the Commissioner. He has given Brixton and the surrounding areas a high priority in recent years in recognition of the special problems there. I understand that the strength of the former 'L' district, which included Brixton division, rose from 835 to 1,056 between June 1981 and September 1986.
