HC Deb 22 May 1986 vol 98 cc302-3W
Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what representations have been made to the Iraq Government by Her Majesty's ambassador in Iraq regarding claims by the Palestine Liberation Organisation radio in Baghdad on 4 May of alleged violent incidents by supporters of the Palestine Liberation Organisation in Jerusalem and Gaza, including an alleged attack upon a petrol station, and about the implications of such claims for the peace process in the middle east.

Mr. Eggar

Our support for a just, negotiated settlement of the Arab/Israel dispute is well known. We make these views clear in discussions with representatives of other Governments, including the Government of Iraq.

Mr. Latham

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will seek information from Her Majesty's ambassador in Amman about the implications for the peace process in the middle east of the policy of King Hussein towards political co-operation with the Palestine Liberation Organisation, following the King's meeting with President Mubarak in Aqaba, Jordan.

Mr. Eggar

Her Majesty's ambassador at Amman follows closely all developments in Jordanian policy towards the peace process in the middle east and reports regularly.
