Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science where research work previously done at the pneumoconiosis research unit at Llandough hospital is now being done since the closure of that unit.

[pursuant to his reply, 16 May 1986, c. 569]: I understand from the Medical Research Council that research work initiated at its pneumoconiosis unit at Llandough hospital is now continuing at the following sites:

  • MRC occupational lung diseases team, Llandough hospital
  • MRC epidemiology unit, Cardiff
  • MRC toxicology unit, Carshalton
  • The Welsh school of pharmacy, University of Wales Institute of Science and Technology.
  • Sully hospital, Penarth.
