HC Deb 22 May 1986 vol 98 cc250-1W
Mr. Onslow

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry whether he will give consideration to establishing an award scheme, similar to existing awards for exports, for companies which record outstanding achievements in the field of import substitution.

Mr. Channon

[pursuant to his reply, 15 May 1986, c. 502]: Although no review of the Queen's Award scheme is planned at present I have asked the Queen's Award Office to take careful note of your proposal.

I applaud those companies which recognise and take advantage of the excellent commercial opportunities in our domestic market, and I would welcome action by companies and organisations in Industry Year 1986 to highlight the commercial opportunities for British suppliers to make competitive products for market sectors which are currently dominated by imports.
