HC Deb 22 May 1986 vol 98 cc264-5W
Mr. Kirkwood

asked the Secretary of State fo Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether his Department has any plans to provide help to African countries through financial assistance or via provision of equipment to prevent the spread of HTLV III virus; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Raison

We are ready to consider any requests from African Governments to give help in combating AIDS. At present there is useful co-operation between African and British scientists, some of whom receive support from the Overseas Development Administration, on the clinical, immunological and epidemiological aspects of the disease.
