§ Mr. Hirstasked the Secretary of State for Scotland when he expects to publish guidance on means of escape from fire in houses in multiple occupation in Scotland.
§ Mr. RifkindA draft version of a guide setting out an advisory standard for means of escape from fire in certain houses in multiple occupation in Scotland has been prepared by the Scottish Home and Health Department. The guide also covers related fire safety measures and will assist the process of consultation between housing and fire authorities which is required under housing legislation. Copies of the draft guide, on which written comments are invited by Friday 4 July 1986, are being sent to the Convention of Scottish Local Authorities and to other interested bodies: copies have also been placed in the Library of the House. Subject to the outcome of the consultation exercise, I hope to be able to publish the final version of the guide during 1986.
