§ Mr. MellorThe latest available information about the previous criminal record of those convicted of "standard list" offences is published in "Previous Convictions of254W Persons Convicted in 1982", Home Office statistical bulletin 2/86. It is estimated that 61 per cent. of those convicted in 1982 of non-motoring "standard list" offences had a previous conviction. The equivalent proportion for those convicted in 1977 was 56 per cent.
