Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many Welsh homes have reported burglaries in each of the past 10 years.

Mr. Mellor

The number of offences of burglary in a dwelling recorded by the police in Wales in 1985 was 16,707. Figures for the years 1980 to 1984 have been published in the annual "Criminal Statistics, England and Wales, Supplementary Tables, Volume 3" (table S.3.1) and for earlier years in the annual Command Papers on criminal statistics.

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department what has been the clear-up rate for crimes of burglaries from Welsh houses in each of the past 15 years.
