HC Deb 22 May 1986 vol 98 c302W
Viscount Cranborne

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether the British Council has any plans to mount an exhibition of 20th century British painting in the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eggar

The British Council is actively preparing a modern art exhibition for the Soviet Union to cover the period 1900 to 1950. It is envisaged that the exhibition will be displayed at the Pushkin museum in Moscow and the Hermitage museum in Leningrad in early 1988.
