§ Mr. John MacKayResources are allocated to health boards according to the SHARE (Scottish Health Authorities Revenue Equalisation) formula which takes into account the higher demands for health care from the elderly. It is for individual boards to decide on local priorities. They should be guided by the report "Scottish Health Authorities Priorities for the Eighties," which identified a number of groups, including the elderly, which should be regarded as having particular priority in the provision of services.
