§ Mr. Murphyasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what recent representations he has received regarding the future of the Anglo-Irish agreement; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Tom KingOver recent weeks I have received a number of letters from members of the public about the future of the Anglo-Irish agreement. The majority expressed concern about its impact in Northern Ireland. I have also had discussions with representatives from a cross-section of the community in Northern Ireland, some of whom are in favour of the agreement while others have expressed reservations about it. The Government remain convinced that the agreement has the potential to offer considerable benefits to all sections of the community in Northern Ireland.
