§ Mr. Lilleyasked the Lord Privy Seal on how many sitting days in 1986 the temperature outside the Palace of Westminster has risen above that at which the heating is turned off; what is the external temperature reading at which the heating is cut off; and at what internal temperature reading the heating may be cut off.
§ Mr. BiffenI understand that the heating has been turned off. In the absence of a defined external162W temperature below which heating must be provided, it is turned off, by agreement with the Serjeant at Arms, when outside temperatures are judged to have settled to a reasonably stable summer level.
