§ Mr. Giles ShawRecords of persons admitted to hospitals and similar places of safety under section 136 of the Mental Health Act 1983 are maintained by local health authorities. The information is collected centrally by the DHSS and is published annually in "Mental Health Statistics for England." Details of persons detained by the police under this section are recorded in the custody records kept under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.
