§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Wales if his Deprtment has monitored the performance of Cyngor Dosbarth Dwyfor in dealing with applications for housing renovation grants within their area over the past seven years; and if he will make a statement on the number of outstanding applications in that area which have not received their grant.
§ Mr. Mark RobinsonOver the past seven years information on the number of renovation grants approved by Dwyfor district council has been collected by my Department and is as follows:
Number of grants 1979 101 1980 50 1981 141 1982 528 1983 758 1984 289 1985 79 Since 1984 the information collected has also included the number of grant applications outstanding. At 31 March 1986, Dwyfor district council had 652 valid grant applications outstanding. The council's housing capital allocation was enhanced by 21 per cent. in 1986–87 to help towards the reduction of its renovation grants backlog.
