§ Mrs. Ann Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Defence what information he has concerning the total value of anticipated orders for small arms supplies to be placed with United Kingdom suppliers in the present year; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. LeeIt has been decided to place contracts on Royal Ordnance plc in respect of our outstanding requirements in 1986–87 for 5.56 mm and 7.62 mm ammunition. The ammunition will be produced at Royal Ordnance plc's factory at Radway Green and the value of the contracts will be about £35 million. This is additional to orders already placed with the factory. Discussions are continuing with the company concerning requirements for the two subsequent years.
