§ Mr. PattieMy right hon. Friend has discussed with the Post Office its plans to secure the future of the counters business. The Government recognise the case for improving the competitiveness of the Post Office by enabling it to provide a broader range of services. My right hon. Friend has therefore told the Post Office that he will seek an early opportunity to introduce legislation to extend its powers.
