They show 3,524 senior house officers in post who had been in the grade for less than one year, and 2,838 pre-registration house officers in post. Although these figures include overseas graduates, they correspond to the normal 1985 career stage of entrants to medical schools in 1979 and 1980 respectively. Entrants to medical schools after 1980 have not yet graduated.
