§ Mr. Peter BottomleyThe Transport and Road Research Laboratory has carried out tests. We are satisfied that temporary use spare tyres now available are safe if used in accordance with manufacturers' instructions and at a speed not in excess of 50 mph. The Department has invited comments on draft regulations to clarify the legal use of the these tyres, and to require new vehicles equipped with them to meet the requirements of EEC regulation 64.
