(i) Whether any United Kingdom expert is taking part in the UN Disarmament Conference Ad Hoc Group of Scientific Experts considering International Co-operative Measures to Detect and Identify Seismic Events; (ii) what international cooperation the Group is obtaining; and (iii) when it is expected to report.
§ The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Young)A United Kingdom expert is participating in the work of the ad hoc group. At their March meeting the group produced a progress report (CD/682) which gives,inter alia, details of which countries participate in, and which experts have contributed to, the work of the group. A copy of the progress report is available in the Library of the House. The group is expected to resume work on an report at its next session, due to take place in July.
