HC Deb 12 May 1986 vol 97 c344W
Mr. Dykes

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make a statement on the development of plans for the public flotation of the Trustee Savings Bank group following the enabling legislation of 1985.

Mr. Ian Stewart

The primary function conferred on the Treasury by the Trustee Savings Banks Act 1985 is the appointment of a vesting day under section 1(4) of that Act. The Treasury is considering the judgment given in the High Court on 28 April. I understand that Mr. Ross, the TSB depositor in whose case the Inner House in Scotland gave judgment on 12 March, has served notice of petition of appeal to the House of Lords.
