HC Deb 12 May 1986 vol 97 c327W
Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry what alleged abuses of the inner German trade agreement have been reported to him; what representations his Department has made to the EEC Commission about the alleged abuses; and what has been the result of these representations.

Mr. Alan Clark

Since 1980, my Department has received 12 representations about alleged abuses of the inner German trade agreement. The complainants were able to supply detailed evidence in one case relating to powdered egg, which the European Commission has investigated at our request. But to date it has proved difficult to produce conclusive evidence that products resulting from inner German trade are adversely affecting the Community's egg products market. The Commission has however undertaken to continue to monitor developments closely.
