HC Deb 12 May 1986 vol 97 cc346-7W
Mr. Deakins

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if the Contadora peace process includes measures to monitor border violations between Nicaragua and its neighbours; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Eggar

Yes. The aim of the Contadora peace process is to reach a comprehensive negotiated and verifiable settlement of tensions in Central America. The draft Contadora Act includes an undertaking to end cross-border violations and subversion and makes provision for mechanisms to monitor infringements of the agreement once signed.
