asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the breakdown between non-industrial and industrial civil servants of the 133,000 net reduction in Civil Service manpower in the period April 1979 to April 1985.

Of the net reduction of 133,000 civil servants between 1 April 1979 and 1 April 1985, 68,000 were non-industrial and 65,000 were industrial civil servants.
