§ Mr. GummerThe index of farming income in real terms rose from 113 to 146 in 1984. It fell sharply to 78 in 1985 particularly because of the bad weather. The constructive changes which were agreed in the price fixing are intended to protect farming incomes overall while at the same time tackling some of the problems of surpluses.
