Mr. FrankField asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will list the number of owner-occupiers for each year since 1979; and if he will estimate for each of these years what proportion these figures represent of the total number of households.

§ Sir George YoungIt is estimated that about 12 million dwellings in England were owner-occupied at the end of December 1985; this was 64 per cent. of the total of 18.7 million dwellings.
