§ Mr. GummerThe responsibility for monitoring national aids rests with the European Commission. We do not attempt to duplicate this work by maintaining a full inventory of such aids. However, we are constantly on the alert for national aids which appear to breach the treaty and are ready to refer substantiated cases to the Commission and to press strongly for action to be taken.
