HC Deb 01 May 1986 vol 96 c468W
Dr. Marek

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the latest information he has regarding standardised mortality ratios of men aged 15 to 64 years according to social class based on occupations recorded in the 1981 census and deaths in years prior to and following the census.

Mr. Whitney

Information on standardised mortality ratios of men aged 20 to 64 in Great Britain according to social class based on occupations recorded in the 1981 census for the period 1979–80 and 1982–83 combined, will be published shortly in the Registrar General's "Decennial Supplement on Occupational Mortality". These figures will not be directly comparable with those given in my reply on 24 January, at column348, for reasons that will be explained fully in the report.

Further information for the period 1981 to 1983 should be available in a few months' time from the OPCS longitudinal study.
