§ Mr. Tony Banksasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will give details of past support given by Her Majesty's Government to the London marathon board.
§ Mr. TraceyThe Government has given broad support and encouragement to the London marathon. For example, the organisers have been given each year the use of a substantial part of Greenwich park to begin the race (together with parking spaces for competitors' equipment coaches, marquees, refreshment vehicles, public address systems and refuse skips) and the use of routes in St. James's park, namely, The Mall and Birdcage Walk; my Department has assisted the London marathon board in the relocation of its headquarters to Richmond Gate Lodge.
