HC Deb 27 March 1986 vol 94 c541W
Mr. Pavitt

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will call for a report from the Commissioner of Police of the Metropolis about restrictions placed on access to Thomas More street, London EC1 for (a) residents and (b) relatives of residents on Saturdays and Sundays.

Mr. Giles Shaw

I understand from the commissioner that on those occasions when demonstrations are held outside the News International plant at Wapping barriers are placed at the junction of Thomas More street and East Smithfield. Persons who wish to pass through the barriers are asked to state their destination. Residents and their relatives are allowed to pass through.
