HC Deb 27 March 1986 vol 94 cc562-3W
Mr. Allen Adams

asked the Secretary of State for Transport if he will review his policy on the usage of Scottish lowland airports with a view to encouraging international carriers to use Glasgow.

Mr. Michael Spicer

The Government's policy for the Scottish lowlands airports is set out in the airports policy White Paper (Cmnd. 9542). International carriers are already encouraged to use Glasgow and Edinburgh airports for short-haul services; Prestwick is to continue to serve as the gateway for long-haul (primarily transatlantic) services although, if its financial results do not improve, the policy will be reviewed in 1989.
