HC Deb 27 March 1986 vol 94 c563W
Mr. Ashdown

asked the Secretary of State for Transport what is his policy on the purchase or recommendation for use in departmental establishments of computers and software which are subject to extraterritorial constraints as to their use, movement or resale; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholas Ridley

The computing procurement policy of my department is to obtain the best value for money in line with the department's plans for information technology. Procurements are carried out through the central computer and telecommunications agency in the Treasury and in accord with Government policy, on which I refer to the corresponding answer from my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Trade and Industry.
