HC Deb 27 March 1986 vol 94 c583W
Mr. Barry Jones

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what is his latest estimate of the numbers of people who died as a result of the cold weather in Wales in January, February and March, respectively.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

There are no official estimates of the number of people who die as the result of cold weather in Wales. Of all deaths registered in Wales in January and February 1986, hypothermia was mentioned in four and 13 cases, respectively. Figures are provisional and include cases where hypothermia was not recorded as the underlying cause of death. March figures are not yet available.
