§ Mr. Thurnhamasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what action has been taken to secure for Northern Ireland companies a share of the opportunities arising from the construction of the Channel fixed link.
§ Dr. BoysonMy right hon. Friend the Secretary of State has personally contacted the chairman of the Channel Tunnel Group to enlist his support in ensuring, wherever possible, that Northern Ireland companies secure a share of the opportunities presented by the project. Officials of the Industrial Development Board are following this up with the group and with individual members of the consortium.
