§ Mr. Maclennanasked the Secretary of State for Energy what funds he has made available, and to which local authorities, for the conversion of domestic and industrial waste into fuel.
§ Mr. David HuntGrant assistance of £3.75 million has been made available under the energy efficiency demonstration scheme, the energy efficiency office's R and D programme and the biofuels R and D programme towards the utilisation of domestic and industrial wastes as fuel. Two local authorities, Merseyside county council and Newcastle city council, have received grant assistance totalling £800,000.
