HC Deb 26 March 1986 vol 94 c485W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales how much money each county in Wales can expect to receive in order to provide innovatory replacement by way of public transport for those rural areas which otherwise may lose their bus services as a result of the Transport Act 1985; and if he will indicate whether he will have total responsibility for such a scheme for Wales.

Mr. Wyn Roberts

I can confirm that my right hon. Friend will have total responsibility for administering the rural transport innovation grant scheme in Wales. The grant is intended to encourage new or improved public passenger transport services for rural communities. As the scheme will be demand determined, it is not possible to forecast what share each county in Wales will receive of the total money allocated. The grant scheme is only one of a number of new measures introduced by the Transport Act 1985 to arrest the decline in rural transport services.
