yet received the report on neighbourhood watch in London commissioned from the Policy Studies Institute; and if copies of this report will be made available to hon. Members.

Mr. Giles Shaw

The Metropolitan police have not commissioned a report on neighbourhood watch in London from the Policy Studies Institute. The Directorate of Management Services of the Metropolitan police and the Institute of Criminology, Cambridge are, however, carrying out an evaluation of neighbourhood watch in London, the results of which are expected to become available towards the end of this year. I shall ensure that any lessons to be learnt from this work are drawn to the attention of those involved in the organisation of neighbourhood watch schemes.
