§ Mr. Michael McNair-Wilsonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he expects either the Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment or the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys to produce their findings about incidences of leukaemia and lymphatic cancer among the under 25-year-olds living in Aldermaston and Burghfield by the end of 1986; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Hayhoe[pursuant to his reply, 21 March 1986, c. 321]: The Office of Population Censuses and Surveys 522W (OPCS) expects to publish its findings from a study of cancer incidence and deaths in the vicinity of nuclear installations in England and Wales by the end of 1986. The study includes an analysis of data on the incidence of leukaemia and lymphatic cancer among the under 25-year-olds living in Bradfield rural district (includes Aldermaston and Burghfield) between 1961 and 1980.
It is too early to predict when the Committee on Medical Aspects of Radiation in the Environment will complete its assessment, which will be dependent on the availability of the OPCS findings.
