What is the normal capacity of Parkhurst Prison; how many prisoners of each category it now contains; and whether category A prisoners share any facilities with prisoners in other categories.

On 19th March 1986 the certified normal accommodation figure for Parkhurst was 271. Its population was 216, broken down in the following categories:

Category A 28
Category B 173
Category C 14
Young Offender 1

(The young offender was located in the hospital for in-patient treatment). As in other establishments which hold category A prisoners, those in Parkhurst are subject to special security arrangements but share facilities with prisoners in other categories.
