HC Deb 25 March 1986 vol 94 c436W
Mr. Latham

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what representations he has received from the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association proposing that horses and mares should be officially classified as agricultural animals; and what response he has made.

Mrs. Fenner

I have received a number of representations from the Thoroughbred Breeders' Association. In reply I have pointed out that under present legislation horses and mares used in the farming of the land are recognised as agricultural animals while those kept for breeding or riding are not.
