§ Mr. Chris Smithasked the Secretary of State for Scotland if he will list in the Official Report the name, location, including county and map reference, size, purchaser, and price received, in respect of each of those forest estates sold to date by the Forestry Commission throughout Great Britain.
§ Mr. John MacKay[pursuant to his reply, 12 March 1986, c. 484.]: As the information requested, covering the period from the operative date of the Forestry Act 1981 to 10 March 1986 is lengthy, I am arranging for the details to be placed in the Library of the House. As far as the information regarding name of purchaser and price is concerned, arising from a recommendation contained in the 13th report (Session 1984–85) of the Committee of Public Accounts, the Forestry Commission seeks the agreement of purchasers of forestry land to the public disclosure of information about the transaction. This applies to sales completed after 12 June 1985 (the date of the PAC report). These details are not made public where a purchaser has not agreed to disclosure.
