HC Deb 25 March 1986 vol 94 c427W
Mr. John Morris

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will reconsider the proposal to close the district valuers office at Port Talbot.

Mr. Ian Stewart

[pursuant to the reply, 21 March 1986, c. 308]: No. The proposal to close the Port Talbot office is part of a rationalisation of the valuation office network throughout England and Wales in which it is planned to reduce the number of local offices from 160 to 119 over the next three years. The changes to be made follow a detailed assessment of the work to be undertaken in the future and take account of the need to provide an effective and efficient service.
