HC Deb 25 March 1986 vol 94 c434W
Mr. Wigley

asked the Secretary of State for Wales what representations he has received about the effect of the European farm prices package on beef production in Wales; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Nicholas Edwards

I have received a number of representations about the Commission's price proposals as they affect the beef sector and particularly about the proposed changes in beef support arrangements. We shall seek to ensure that any revised arrangements do not discriminate against beef producers in the United Kingdom and will continue to stress the benefit that the beef variable premium scheme gives to producers and consumers.
