Cecil Walkerasked the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what representations were received from the Government of the Republic of Ireland during the course of negotiations on the Anglo-Irish agreement as to the role to be played in such negotiations by the representatives of the Unionist population.
§ Mr. Tom King[pursuant to his reply, 24 March 1986]: The negotiations leading up to the signing of the Anglo-Irish agreement were between the United Kingdom and Irish Governments and it was understood that no political parties would participate.
