HC Deb 24 March 1986 vol 94 c385W
33. Mr. Chapman

asked the Minister for the Arts what information he has about the recent level and trend of attendances at the Victoria and Albert museum.

Mr. Luce

I refer my hon. Friend to the reply I gave to the hon. Member for Warley, East (Mr. Faulds) on 22 January this year which showed that attendances at the Victoria and Albert museum during 1985 were 0.6 per cent. lower than in the previous year. In the period November 1985 to February 1986, the first four months of the voluntary donations scheme, there were 310,397 recorded visitors to the museum's main collection in South Kensington compared with 499,429 in the same period a year ago.
