HC Deb 24 March 1986 vol 94 c388W
Mr. Beith

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what steps he has taken to satisfy himself that the proposed expansion of nuclear reprocessing at Dounreay complies with articles 37, 40 and 41 of the Euratom treaty.

Mr. Goodlad

The UKAEA and BNFL's application for outline planning consent for the construction of a European fast reactor demonstration reprocessing plant is to be the subject of a public local inquiry starting on 7 April. It is therefore not yet appropriate to provide the relevant information about the project to the Commission under articles 37 and 41 of the Euratom treaty. This will be provided in due course should the project go ahead. Action under article 40 is for the Commission.
