§ Mr. Weetchasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to the answer of 17 December 1985, Official Report, column 147, why the detailed calculations underlying the recommendations of the dental rates study group are not published: and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. HayhoeThe dental rates study group agrees each year to make available to individuals or organisations on request information that is submitted to it. It has decided, however, not to make available certain information, including its detailed calculations, when to do so might prejucice its ability to carry out its functions effectively.
§ Mr. Whitfieldasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will make it his policy that students in full-time education should be exempted from dental charges during temporary employment in vacations.
§ Mr. HayhoeStudents under 19 in full-time education are exempt from dental charges. Older students have to pay charges, whether or not they are in temporary employment, though they can obtain help with charges if they have a low income. I have no plans to change these arrangements.
